Hellooooooo, people!
How are all of you doing?
I’m so excited to share this tutorial for Wizarding Wands with whoever reads this blog! I had been planning to do something like this for a while, and I am so happy with the product!
I really wanted to make my wand with my official wood, Silver Lime/Linden. But, I have no idea where the heck I can find it! Anyways, I decided to try with some wood I found in my backyard. It is amazing!
Quick note – I measured my wood as if the stick was the only part to be measured, and the marble was a decorative extension. So, if I measured all my wand, it would be longer than my official length.
If you want to include the charm in your measurement, measure the charm and subtract that from your wood and use the result as the length for your stick.
Tutorial – Wizarding Wands
You will need –
- Tree with branches without greenish insides
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Modge Podge or another sealing material
- Hot glue or strong glue
- Small marble, bead, or another pretty trinket (optional)
Steps –
- Use your scissors and cut off a pretty lengthy branch of the tree, longer than you need your wand to be.
- Take your ruler and measure out the length of your wand. Cut that off with your scissors, so you have your ideal length wand.
- Use your scissors and cut off any stumps or mini growths on your wand. You can also carve any simple designs, like the rings I did on mine.
- Take your stick and coat it in your sealing material. To hold my stick up, I jabbed a hole in some pool noodle foam and stuck my wand in it.
- Repeat step 4 at least twice, flipping the wand upside down so you can coat the bottom. Dry well!
- Use your choice of glue to stick your trinket to the bottom of your wand.
Finished!
I love the result to much! The marble I added is really pretty and smooth. I like the feeling of it on my hand, and it feels really calming to trace shapes on my hand.
I hope you make your own wand! Someday, when I find my wand wood, I’ll make a new one!
So, that’s it for this project! I have a few more things to say if you want to stick around.
Today I read a TON of Harry Potter and the OotP, The 3rd Hunger Games, and listened to my favorite all-potter podcast, Swish and Flick! I know I keep talking about it, but I honestly highly recommend it. I’m almost caught up, and I have a long drive coming up to catch up. I’ve also been looking at another blog that I’ve been looking at as well, ihave12ofaplan.wordpress.com. Check it out!
Well, I guess that’s about it. Make sure to comment, I’d love to talk or answer questions! See you later!
This is so awesome, I love making wands out of the butterfly tree that we have in the field in front of our yard, but I have never made one as sophisticated as this! As soon as I can, I am going to make a TOOOOON (ton, not “toon”) of these!
